MEET THE OWNER

Katrina Kelly is a native of Lexington, Kentucky and studied landscape architecture at the University of Kentucky. Her fascination of creating began at an early age and her love of plants began in high school while studying plant biology. Her interest in native plants and designing for ‘living landscapes’ began during her volunteer work at the Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort, Kentucky and her employment at the Arboretum during college.

Katrina has degrees from the University of Kentucky in Landscape Architecture (BS) and from the Department of Fine Arts (BA). She has won awards for her design work, and has the following credentials:

  • Certified Backyard Wildlife Master Gardener
  • Kentucky Native Plant Society Stewardship
  • Fayette Alliance Citizens Planning Academy

  • Trendimi Event Planning Certificate

EARTHeim (earth-hime) means ‘earth our home’

EARTHeim is part of Katrina Kelly Design

It began in order to create conscious landscape design solutions for everyone to enjoy. Our logo is an Egyptian Lotus, which is a symbol of all things the sun creates.

EARTHeim LLC Landscape Design Studio was created when I saw the need for more sustainable design in the Bluegrass region. Our goal is to incorporate good choice and native plants into the landscape that coordinates with the client’s wishes and taste.

I love to show how native plants can be used aesthetically within a landscape. Native plants do better in our Kentucky landscape because when put in the right location, they are hardy to our climate & soils. Another reason we chose native plants is to help our pollinators and to bring ‘local’ back through our native flora.
